THIS WEEK: THE WORLD IS RUN BY THOSE WHO SHOW UP
THIS WEEK: THE WORLD IS RUN BY THOSE WHO SHOW UP
“The world is run by those who show up.”
A wise adage Owner of Back Alley Bikes, Jason Merrill, shared through a video challenge to local citizens to volunteer on a community advisory board, committee, or commission. Jason serves on the Chapel Hill Transportation and Connectivity Advisory Board.
Dixon Pitt - another local business leader (Project Manager and Commercial Broker at Bryan Properties) and volunteer on the Community Design Commission put it another way:
“It’s hard to complain that’s something not going right if you are not involved in trying to make it better.”
Bottom line, If you are not already, it’s time to raise your hand and serve on a local board or commission. We need more local business leaders like you involved in community decision-making.
Deadline for some of the most relevant and influential opportunities like the Carrboro Planning Board, the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, and Orange County Commission for the Environment is rapidly approaching (APRIL 2nd).
- Apply now to volunteer with the Town of Chapel Hill, the Town of Carrboro, or Orange County.
Learn about other ways to get involved and advocate, and as always, let me know if you have any questions or ideas.
